Surnames: Kile, Maki, Franckiewicz, Niemi, Holme ---------Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 07/25/1946 --------- Maki, Lilly (29 JUN 1946) June 29, 1946, at 2 p.m., in the Finnish Lutheran Church at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), Miss Lilly Maki, daughter of Matt Maki, exchanged marriage vows with Elvin Kile, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Kile of Thorp, in a double-ring ceremony. The Rev. L.C. Bundguard officiated. Daniel Arola played the wedding march and Mrs. Arola and Irene Holme sang “I Lover You Truly.” Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white satin gown with a net overskirt extending into a long train. The bodice was embroidered with pearls. Her fingertip veil was trimmed with orange blossoms and she carried white lilies, tea roses and swansonia. Her pearls were a gift of the groom. Miss Felecia Franckiewicz, maid of honor, was attired in a white net and satin dress and carried a colonial bouquet of white carnations and roses. Miss Betty Maki, bridesmaid, wore a light blue eyelet frock and carried a colonial bouquet. Bonnets completed their attire. Lawrence Kile, a brother of the groom, and Edwin Niemi, a cousin of the bride, attended the bridegroom. The groom’s mother wore a black dress with white accessories and a corsage of tea roses and swansonia. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the church for 100 guests. Blue, pink and white streamers canopied the rooms. A three-tier wedding cake, topped with a bridal ornament, centered the bride’s table. Supper was served at 8 p.m. at the Kile home. Guests from away were Mr. and Mrs. Markee and family, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. George C. Alick and children, St. Paul. |
