A very pretty wedding was solemnized at the Nazareth Evangelical Reformed Church at 2500 N. Talman Ave., Chicago, Ill., on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 6, 1945, at 4 p.m., when Miss Gertrude Klabon, daughter of Mrs. Sophie Klabon of Chicago, became the bride of Allen Stark, son of Mrs. And Mrs. Herman Stark of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). Before the candle lit altar the ceremony was performed by the Rev. Paul Stoerker of Chicago. Clarence Schmidt of Chicago sang “Because” and “Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us.”

The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Herman Klabon of Withee, was beautifully attired in a gown of white satin with a long train. Her fingertip veil was held in place with a beaded crown. She wore a gold locket and carried a bouquet of white roses, gardenias and an orchid with streamers of white ribbon and lily of the valley. She was attended by Miss Alma Schippelbaum, a cousin, as maid of honor, who wore a gown of peach marquisette with aheaddress of peach colored feathers and carried a bouquet of red roses. Other bridesmaids were Miss Frieda Klabon, her sister, of Chicago, and Miss Milita Jankee of Owen, who wore identical gowns of aqua marquisette and headdress of aqua colored feathers and carried bouquets of yellow roses.

The groom had as his attendants, Edwin Zowal of Withee as best man, and Charles Wm. Hoeper of Withee, and Sgt. Henry Klabon, Chicago, a brother of the bride, as ushers. They each wore a tuxedo and a white carnation boutonniere with the exception of the sergeant, who was in uniform.

The bride’s mother, dressed in a two-piece black velvet and crepe dress wore a corsage of gardenias, roses and white carnations.

A 6:30 reception was held at the Avondale Building for the bridal party, relatives and friends.

Out of town guests at the wedding were Herman Stark Jr. of Owen, and Louis Stark of Withee; Mr. and Mrs. A. Melbinger and son of Cicero; Mrs. John Rohland of Withee, and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Jankee and Cpl. Arthur Jankee of Owen.

A pre-nuptial shower was given at the home of the bride on Sept. 27. Many lovely gifts were received.

The couple will reside in Withee where the groom is engaged in farming.

They have the best wishes of a host of friends and relatives for a very happy and blissful wedded life.
