Mrs. Carrie Schuster Lee died at the home of her sister, Mrs. H.C. Peters, at Phillips, Wis., where she had gone for a visit on Friday, June 14th, 1901, of typhoid fever, and was brought here Saturday, the funeral taking place at 2 .m. Sunday.

She was born in Greenfield, N.Y., Jan. 10, 1867, and was 34 years old the 10 of Jan. last. She came with her parents to Washburn, Clark Co., in February 1873, and in the spring of 1876 came to this city, where she has since resided. She was married to Charles E. Lee in 1887.

Gentleness was the characteristic that seemed most prominent in her, with self-sacrificing devotion to those she loved. She possessed an artistic, meditative poise of mind, and the uniform cheerfulness that came from a sane and philosophical view of her surroundings and of the world. Self-helpful, she was leaned upon by the family in many ways, and never wearied in her work for others. As some of the illusions of youth passed, this devotion to others noticeably increased. She was a devoted worker in the Unitarian Church and Sunday School, and the touching tribute of flowers from the scholars showed their deep affection for her. In conversation wise and witty, she was never unkind or unjust, but sought rather at all times to be forgiving and charitable. And now she lies at the side of Louis and Lillie, the beloved brother and sister whose memory was always so great a pleasure to her, and is, still, to us who knew them well, and seems freshened and revived by this new bereavement.

What more can a friend say? One of the kindest, most gentle characters were have ever known has become a memory.

The services at the house were conducted by T. Grafton Owen, with eloquence and feeling. A profusion of flowers was everywhere, the offerings of friends.

Mr. Schuster and family are full of gratitude for the touching evidences of sympathy shown by all.
