Funeral services for Alonzo Thomas Huckstead, 84, of Neillsville were held on Tuesday afternoon, October 10, at the Lowe Funeral home, the Rev. George W. Longenecker, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery. He died on Friday afternoon about 5 o’clock at his farm home in the town of Grant.

Alonzo Thomas Huckstead was born November 26, 1860, in Buffalo, N. Y., the son of Thomas, Sr., and Ettie Ann Huckstead. When he was two years of age, his parents came to Wisconsin, and settled in the town of Grant, where he grew to manhood. As a young man he worked at the carpenter trade, and assisted in erecting many buildings now in use in this community. At one time he was a partner of Antone Barton in the wagon making business, and later lived at Cameron for a few years. In 1914 he returned to the home farm, where he has since resided.

In March, 1893, he was married to Phoebe Hoag, at Tomah. Mrs. Huckstead died in 1931. He has served on the town board, and was a member of the Methodist Church, and for many years was a faithful and active worker in the church on Pleasant Ridge. He was of friendly disposition, and always maintained a keen interested in young people.

Mr. Huckstead is survived by one brother, Arlo Huckstead, town of a Grant; a daughter, Marie, Mrs. Warren Strohecker, a teacher at Gilman, Ill.; and Clifford Nelson of Jefferson, who lived with Mr. and Mrs. Huckstead for many years. A brother, Edward, two half brothers, William and John Vine, and a half sister, Elizabeth Benedict, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were: Milo Brown, George West, Arthur Hubing, Alvin Eisentraut, Walter Gerhardt and Willard Gehardt.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were: Mrs. Warren Strohecker, Gilman, Ill.; Clifford Nelson, Jefferson; Mrs. Oral Graham, Robbinsdale, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. George Wolff and daughter, Chetek. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Vosseteig and two sons, Galesville, were here Sunday but were unable to remain for the funerals. Mrs. Graham, Mrs. Wolff and Mrs. Vosseteig are all nieces of Mr. Huckstead. Four other nieces who survive are Mrs. Mae Harriman, Alden, Mich.; Mrs. Ida Gower, Granton; Mrs. Florence Counsell, Neillsville and Mrs. Louis Scholtz, Pleasant Ridge.
