Percy Ervin Becken, 20 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Halver Becken, was born Oct. 3, 1921, in the town of Green Grove. He attended the Atwood grade school and graduated from the Colby high school in 1939. He entered the CCC camp at Perkinstown for one year. He then went to Chicago, where he has been the past two years and was employed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station. He came home for a short vacation, on which he was killed in an accident.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. M. C. Goetsch at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church, Green Grove, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. He was buried in St. Paul’s cemetery.

Survivors are his parents; one brother, Halver Jr., at home; six sisters, Gloria of Chicago and LaMyra, Joyce, Jacinta, Darleen and June, all at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller, of Colby; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Benken; four uncles, one aunt and seven cousins and a host of friends.

Percy was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Goetsch in the Green Grove church. The bereaved have the sympathy of the community.

Relatives and friends who attended the funeral from away were; Mr. and Mrs. John Bandow, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Bandow, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Procknow and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ludeman, all of Neenah; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kilty and Mrs. Mary Bandow of Edgar, Miss Jean Pawsow of Juneau, Alaska, Mrs. Joe Patnovick of Owen, , Mr. and Mrs. Ole Gilbertson of Dorchester, Mrs. Gunval Gilbertson of Columbus, O., and Miss Romilda Baehr, Norbert Baehr, Miss Wanda Buss and Alvin Wiegman, all of Chicago.
