Obit: Kaarup, Mrs. John (1864 – 1942)
Surnames: Kaarup, Stoker, Armstrong, Christman --------- The Loyal Tribune 11 Jun 1942 --------- Kaarup, Mrs. John (26 AUG 1864 – 6 JUN 1942) Mrs. John Kaarup, 77, of Wautoma died at the Wild Rose hospital at 3:30 a.m. June 6. She was ill for several weeks. Her death was the result of a paralytic stroke. Mrs. Kaarup was born August 26, 1864, at Greenville, Ind. She lived there until her marriage to John Kaarup in 1908, when they came to Loyal. They lived here several years, moving to other cities but returning to Loyal, until going on the road with a number of rides. For the past seven years her home has been at Wautoma. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Rebecca lodge. Mrs. Kaarup is survived by her husband; two sons, Jesse of Loyal and Henry of Fountain City; one daughter, Mrs. Leighton (Carrie Lee) Stoker, of Marshfield; two step-children, Adolph Kaarup of Wautoma and Mrs. C. A. (Lillian) Armstrong of Wellington, Kan.; 16 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Peter (Bessie) Christman, preceded her in death 12 years ago. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Loyal at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, and interment was in the Loyal cemetery. The Rev. Orlando Jewell officiated, assisted by the Rev. S. B. Lewis of Wautoma. Those serving as pallbearers were L. A. Davel, V. O. Kauffman, Charles Davel, William Evans, Glen Shupe and Lee Clouse. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were her husband, John Kaarup, Adolph Kaarup, Baltus Christman, Charles Taylor and the Rev. S. B. Lewis, all of Wautoma; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kaarup, Fountain City; Mr. and Mrs. Leighton Stoker, Marshfield; Mrs. Lillian Armstrong, Wellington, Kan.; Mrs. Julius Kaarup, Red Wing, Minn., and Mrs. H. M. Bergemann, Greenwood. |
