Surnames: Chapman, Beilke, Bradbury ---------Source: CLARK COUNTY PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 02/20/1947 --------- Chapman, D. O. (18 JUL 1876 – 12 FEB 1947) Funeral services for D. O. Chapman, 70, who died Wednesday evening, Feb. 12, 1947, at his home at 186 East 4th St., Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.), were held Saturday afternoon, Feb. 15, at the Cole Funeral Home. Services were under the auspices of the Marshfield Lodge B.P. O. E. and were conducted by the chaplain of the lodge. Burial took place in the Neillsville Cemetery. Preceding the service Mrs. A. C. Covell played two piano selections. Mr. Chapman was born July 18, 1876, in East Lima, Wis., the son of William and Sarah Chapman. Seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death. He came to Clark County 32 years ago and was married here on April 1, 1919, to Mabel Holtz Beilke, who, with her daughter, Pearl, Mrs. Lewis Bradbury, survives. Also surviving are four grandchildren. For a number of years Mr. Chapman was engaged as an advance man and later was in charge of concessions with the Ringling brothers circus and the Gollmar Brothers Circus. Later he owned and operated a farm near the north city limits of Neillsville, and also operated a restaurant here. More recently he had engaged in the tavern business. For four years he had been employed at the Clark County Hospital at owen, and only recently moved back to Neillsville. He was a charter member of the Baraboo Lodge, B.P.O.E. Pallbearers were E. H. Snyder, H. M. Smith, Arthur Meyers, H. A. Frank, Otto Hiles and Ed Kutchera. Those from away who were here for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Mills and son, Hugh, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Mills, John Mills, and Paul Holtz and daughter, June, all of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Buell, Augusta; Mrs. Edith Carlson and daughter, Jean, Duluth; Vernon Chapman, a nephew, and Mr. and Mrs. Matt Scherer, La Crosse; Mrs. Harold Pfeiffer, a niece, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Mills, Mrs. George Plummer and children, Lloyd Hamer, George Lindy, George LeClair, Miss Helen Grewve, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Price, and Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Evans, Owen. |
