Ystad, a teacher in the Colby Graded School, and Miss Betty Lou Lucas of Marshfield, Route 1, were united in marriage in a ceremony Saturday night, Feb. 11, in Grace Lutheran church on a Marshfield route. Rev. Edgar Milleville read the marriage vows during the 7:30 ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lucas and her husband’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ystad, Greenwood, Route 1. The newlyweds are living in Colby. Both are former students at the Wood County Teachers Training School in Wisconsin Rapids and Mr. Ystad also attended Wisconsin State College in Eau Claire. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her gown of lace stiffened with net and worn over satin had a pretty detailed cut-out and appliquéd rounded neckline and long, lace sleeves. The full skirt was floor-length. A scalloped crown of satin and rhinestones secured her three-quarter length veil of illusion. Red roses and large white gardenias formed her cascade bouquet. Miss Joan Goehring, cousin of the groom, was the maid of honor, her white gown featuring a strapless bodice and bouffant skirt. Gold and blue gowns were worn respectively, by the Misses Jean Lucas and Shirley Hansen, sister and cousin of the bride. Their gowns were of satin, with double overskirts of net. The aides held bouquets of red, white and tinted carnations. James Dahlke, Granton, served his cousin as best man. The couple’s brothers, John Lucas, Jr., and Roger Ystad, were groomsmen. Ushering were Norman Olson, Loyal, and Robert Dahlke, Granton, cousins of the newlyweds. The bride’s mother wore a navy and white ensemble and the groom’s mother a gray dress with black accents. Rosebuds and carnations formed their corsages. Supper for 95 relatives was held in the church parlors followed by a reception.
