Surnames: Buddinger, Hilt, Grosshuesch, Pacholke, Bauer, Schnabel, Gerbing, Morrow, Manigel ----Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 06/28/1956 ----Buddinger, Marlene Katherine (Marriage – 23 June 1956) Miss Marlene Katherine Buddinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Buddinger of Colby, Route 1, and Lloyd Arthur Hilt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hilt of Marshfield, Route 4, were married in the First Evangelical and Reformed church in Colby Saturday afternoon, Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Yvonne Pacholke, accompanied at the organ by Miss Rena Bauer, sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “O Perfect Love.” Tiers of white lace surrounded the floor-length gown which Miss Buddinger wore for the occasion. A low scalloped neckline fashioned the snug-fitting bodice, and her finger-tip veil of net was caught to a crown of pearls. Complementing her attire was a cascade bouquet of white carnations. Miss Alice Buddinger of Milwaukee, a sister of the bride, chose a yellow floor-length dress of net over taffeta in her role as maid of honor. She carried a cascade of yellow and white flowers. The bridesmaids, Mrs. Bonnie Schnabel, another sister, of Unity, wore a green strapless gown with green and white carnations, and Mrs. Geraldine Gerbing of Fond du Lac was attired in a blue gown and carried blue and white carnations. Short-sleeved cover-up jackets were worn over the strapless tops. The groom’s brother, Elton Hilt of Fond du Lac was best man and Ray Schnabel of Unity, brother-in-law of the bride, and Donald Gerbing of Fond du Lac, nephew of the groom, were groomsmen. In charge of ushering were Donald Morrow of Colby, an uncle of the bride, and Clifford Manigel of Marshfield, friend of the couple. Supper was served to the bridal party and guests from Appleton, Loyal, Marshfield, Colby, Unity, Illinois, Wisconsin Rapids, La Crosse, Granton, Milwaukee, Fond du Lac, Spencer, Ombro and Edgar, at the home of the bride’s parents. After a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and Eastern New York, the couple will be at home at Marshfield, Route 4. They are employed by the A. H. Weinbrenner Co. of Marshfield. Mrs. Hilt is a graduate of Colby High School and the groom attended Stratford High School.
