Funeral services for Thomas William Peaslee of Neillsville, were held Tuesday, November 26, (1946), at 10:30 a.m. at the Georgas Funeral Home and at 11:00 o’clock at the Congregational Church, with the Rev. George W. Longenecker officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville Cemetery. Mr. Peaslee died at 6:30 p.m., November 23, (1946), at the Wisconsin General Hospital.

The deceased was the son of Isaac and Laura Peaslee, and was the last of a family of twelve children. He was born March 14, 1871, in the Town of Sterling, Vernon County. He was 75 years of age. As a young man he was baptized into the Methodist Church, and had been a faithful member all of his life.

On February 24, 1897, he was married to Lepha Mills. They resided in Vernon County about ten years; then moved to Richland County. In 1922, they came to Clark County where they engaged in farming in the Towns of Grant and York until 1936, when he retired from farming, and they moved to Neillsville. Eleven children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: Herman and Raymond of Richland County; Frank, Pekin, Ill.; Myrtie, Mrs. Eldred Davis, Granton; Hazel, Mrs. Ed Lezotte, Neillsville; Glenn and Harley, Waukegan, Ill.; and Lida, Mrs. Norman Kuhl, Pewaukee. There are 30 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 25 nieces and nephews, also other relatives.

Pallbearers were the five sons and a nephew, Lano Peaslee. Four granddaughters carried flowers. Mrs. Warren Hemp and Miss Shirley Pepper sang, “In the Garden,” and “Nearer, till Nearer.” Mrs. Florence Counsell accompanied the singers at the piano.

Those from away who were here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Herman Peaslee and two children, Cazenovia; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peaslee, Pekin, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Peaslee and daughter, Gillingham; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Peaslee and Glenn Peaslee, Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Lano Peaslee, Sharon; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kuhl, Pewaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mills, Mr. and Mrs. William Mills, Mrs. Fish, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Nicks, Viroqua.
