George Jerome Broihier, 70, whose home is at 127 West Fourth St. in Neillsville (Clark Co. Wis.), died at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, after an illness of one month. A rosary service was held Sunday afternoon at the Georgas Funeral Home, where the body was lying in state. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning, a brief service at the funeral home and at 9:30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Fr. John J. Pritzl read the requiem high mass. Burial took place in the parish cemetery.

George Broihier, son of Joseph and Julia Broihier, was born on Feb. 13, 1877, in Iowa. All of his early life was spent there. On Sept. 17, 1901 he was married at Ossian, Iowa, to Florence Weitgenant. For several years he worked on his father’s farm and 21 years ago came with his family to Clark County and located on the former Markham farm near Day’s Corners. About two years ago he moved to Neillsville, where he has since resided.

Mr. Broihier was a systematic farmer. During the years he had kept accurate records of farming projects, keeping records of dates on which he planted and harvested the various crops.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and of the Foresters.

Surviving are four daughters: Lorene, Mrs. Ed Hauge, Leona, Mrs. George Bryan, Jr., and Mrs. Faye Wasserburger, all of Neillsville; Mable, Mrs. Dave bender, of Granton. There are 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are a brother, Eugene Broihier of Calmer, Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. T. H. Huinker of Independence, Iowa, sister Mary Eugene of Dyersville, Iowa, and Genevieve, whose home is unknown to the family. Two brothers and a sister are deceased.

Pallbearers for the services were Art Opelt, Karl Kessler, Elmer Filitz, Hebert Filitz, Henry Heiman and Tony Hartung.

Out of town relatives and friends who were here for the service were: Mr. and Mrs. L. Logsdon, Excelsior, Minn.; Mrs. Frances Hinker, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Broihier, Calmer, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Broihier, Ridgeway, Iowa; Miss Helen Hauge, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Hilmer Dudei and daughter of Berlin.
