Miss Josephine Laken, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Laken, Neillsville, route three, became the bride of Joseph Verschay, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Verschay of Willard, Saturday, August 3, at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Church at Willard. The Rev. Bernard Ambrozic officiated with the double ring ceremony.

The bride wore a gown of white lace, styled with a fitted bodice and long sleeves, which came to a point at the wrists. The net skirt ended in a long train. A beaded tiara, held her finger tip length veil in place. Her flowers were a bouquet of white gladioli. She was given in marriage by her father.

Garden flowers decorated the church, and music was furnished by the organist, Mrs. Ivan Ruzic and the church choir. A solo, Ave’ Maria, was rendered.

Mrs. John Verschay, sister-in-law of the groom, was the matron of honor, and Miss Helen Laken, sister of the bride, and Margaret Laken, cousin, of Ottawa, Ill., served as bridesmaids. John Verschay, George Laken and Matt Dergance of Chicago were attendants for the bridegroom.

A reception for 150 guests as held at the home of the bride’s parents, at 6 o’clock Saturday evening, and a reception for 50 guests was held Sunday evening at the home of the groom’s parents.

Mrs. Verschay taught school before her marriage, and her husband is serving his third term as chairman of the Town of Hendren, and served as treasurer at one time. After a honeymoon in northern Minnesota and Michigan, the couple will be at home in Greenwood.

Out-of-town guests who attended the wedding were: Mrs. Joe Jeras and family, Lyons, Ill., Frances Pavlin, Chicago, Mrs. Val Jeras, Brookfield, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. John Verschay, Mrs. Henry Isaacson and son, all of Chicago, Misses Margaret and Catherine Laken, Ottawa, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Tony Tolaney, Ladysmith, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meyers and Nancy, Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cernik of Wisconsin Rapids.
