Ralph Clemetson, 84, died at his home in the village of Loyal at about 9:30 o’clock Monday evening, July 27, of old age and complications.

Mr. Clemetson was born Sept. 26, 1867, in Christiania, Norway, and came to America when a young man 18 years of age. For a few years he worked in Minnesota and northern Wisconsin. He was married to Mrs. Frances Mack at Baldwin Mills, Wis., August 15, 1889. Soon after their marriage they came to Loyal, and here he made his home for over 50 years. He served the village of Loyal faithfully for over 40 years as marshal and street commissioner.

Mrs. Clemetson preceded her husband in death Aug. 28, 1938. Among others preceding him in death were two brothers, an infant daughter and a great-grandson.

He is survived by a son, Milton, of Hermiston, Ore.; a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Elsie) DeYoung, New London; a sister Elsie Madsen, Minnesota; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the house at 2:30 and at the Methodist church at 3 o’clock, with the Rev. Myron E. Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove cemetery. The hymns were sung by Mrs. Ray Prior and Mrs. Calvin Prior, with Bernice Draper as accompanist.

Pallbearers were chosen from the village council, with the exception of one, John Geiger, who was a member of the board for many years. Others serving were Jesse Raab, Henry Boe, Ed Bertz, Richard Gotter and Frank Degehhardt. Those who carried the flowers were Miss Eva Etta, Mrs. Robert Wehling, Mrs. Rose Brussow and Mrs. Kate Beaver.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry DeYoung, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Paulson and daughter and Mrs. August Beckert, all of New London; Mrs. Willard Wied and Llewellyn Wied, Clintonville and Mrs. Victor Diestler, Hortonville.
