---Scholtz, Joyce (Marriage – 15 November 1946)

Miss Joyce Scholtz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Scholtz of route 4, Neillsville, became the bride of William C. Hill, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Hill of Elroy, in a service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Neillsville, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, November (15?). The Rev. Wm. A. Baumann, pastor of St. John’s Church performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of relatives and friends of the couple, before the altar banked with chrysanthemums.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, chose for her wedding a white dress made with a taffeta bodice and long sleeves. The skirt was full and was made of net over taffeta, with a taffeta train. Her fingertip veil was edged with lace and caught to a beaded tiara. She carried a white Bible and had a bouquet of gardenias and rosebuds. She also wore her mother’s necklace.

Mrs. Robert Hill, Jr., of Elroy, sister-in-law of the groom, as matron of honor, wore pink. The bridesmaid, Mrs. Arlo Scholtz, Granton, sister-in-law of the bride, wore aqua. The groom was attended by his brother, Robert Hill, Jr., of Elroy, and Arlo Scholtz of Granton, brother of the bride. Music for the service was furnished by John Bremer, the church organist.

Following the service, a reception was held for 40 guests at the Silver Dome Supper club, decorations of pink and blue candles and flowers being used. A shower had been given at the bride’s home on November 13, arranged by Mrs. Florence Counsell and Mrs. Matt Gassen.

The newlyweds left for a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin and Minnesota, and after November 26, will be at home to their friends in an apartment at the Arlo Huckstead home on route 4, Neillsville.

The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High School and since her graduation in 1946; she has been employed at Kearns’ Drug Store. The groom attended Elroy High School, and while a junior, entered the Navy, where he served three years, two of which were overseas. He has been in Neillsville for six months, where he is employed as an auto repairman at the Gassen Body Shop.

Out-of-town guests who were here for the wedding included: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hill and son, and Mrs. R. W. Hill, Sr., and Mr. James, of Elroy, the latter being uncle, aunt and cousin of the groom; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wetzel of Kendall, uncle and aunt of the groom; Mrs. O. H. Graham of Robbinsdale, Minn., aunt of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. George Wolff and daughter, Jane, of Chetek, uncle, aunt and cousin of the bride; Mrs. L. A.
