PAFF, DORCHESTER, DIES Plan Military Rites Saturday Afternoon For World War Veteran Dorchester--Military funeral rites will be conducted here Saturday for Leonard Franklin Paff, 41 year old World war veteran, who died after a two years' illness Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. at St. Joseph's hospital, Marshfield. After services at Salem's Evangelical church at 2 p.m., there will be a march to Memorial cemetery, where brief rites will be held at the grave, with the Rev. L. G. Thiel, pastor, officiating. Mr. Paff was born in Wausau on Feb. 4, 1894. He enlisted in the World war in April, 1918, serving three weeks, before going overseas, at Camps Grant and Funston. He served 13 months overseas in the 355th infantry, 89th division, and fought in the battles of Argonne and St. Mihiel. On June 25, 1919, he was married at Dorchester to Olga Papesch. After their marriage the couple moved to the present farm, about 3 miles northeast of the village, which has been their home since. Mr. Paff at one time taught the school in the district, where his home is. Surviving are his wife and three (sic) children, Milton, Ione, Valerie and Loretta, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Anna Paff, Wausau; and three brothers, Walter and Kenneth, both of Wausau, and Ralph, Wausaukee. |
