Funeral services for Frank E. Kubat, 83, Neillsville were held Saturday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. John H. Pritzl celebrated the requiem high mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Kubat died December 24, (1947) at his home in Neillsville, death being caused by a heart attack.

He was born December 3, 1864, in Czechoslovakia and came with his parents to America in 1870. They lived for a time in Baltimore, Md. and came later to West Bend. In 1883, the family moved to Clark County, settling in the Town of York. He has lived in this community ever since. In 1941 he left the farm in the Town of York and moved to Neillsville. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Holy Name Society. He has worked as a farmer and also a stone mason for many years.

His first marriage was to Julia Novacek in 1901 in Chicago. Her death occurred in 1940. On November 12, 1942, he was married to Mrs. Marie Kubat in St. Mary’s Church. Surviving are his wife and three step-children; Max Lukas of Neillsville, Marie Kubat of Chicago, and Josephine Cervenka of Elkhorn. Also surviving are three brothers, William of Granton, Edward of Kansas City, MO., and Anthony of Portland, Ore.

A rosary service was held Friday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home, where the body was lying in state.

Pallbearers were: Frank Dobes, Frank Schield, John Krejci, Arthur Barton, Peter Schaefer and Henry Wasserberger.

Out-of-town folks here for the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. William Kubat, Mr. and Mrs. L. Walters and son, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sladek, and Mr. and Mrs. Alois Tichey, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kubat, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Leo (Marie) Kubat and daughter Beverly, Frank Vacek, Mr. and Mrs. John Novacek, and John Aichinger, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bladel and family, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Walters, Loyal and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Cervenka, Elkhorn.
