Surnames: Kowalk, Rucks, Sachse, Eder ---Source: Clark County Press (Neillsville, Clark Co., WI.) May 20, 1948 ---Kowalk, Fred (18 October 1891– 14 May 1948) Funeral services for Fred Kowalk, 56, were held on Tuesday afternoon, May 18, (1948) from the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Military rites were held at the Colby Cemetery, where the body was interred. He died on Friday at the Marshfield hospital. Mr. Kowalk was born on October 18, 1891, at Park Falls. He was married on August 3, 1927 to Gladys Rucks. Surviving are his widow and two children, Garretta and Edward, two brothers, Ernest and George of Unity, a half-brother Otto, of Owen, and two sisters, Mrs. William Sachse and Mrs. Floyd Eder of Colby. He was a veteran of World War I.
