May 27, 1948 ---Wallek, Maxine (Marriage – 22 May 1948) Maxine Wallek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Spry of Granton, was married on Saturday, May 22 (1948) to Raymond H. Workman, Jr., of St. Paul. The young people will reside in St. Paul, where the groom, a commercial artist, will attend a school of art. The marriage took place in the Hamline Methodist Church, St. Paul, with the double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Dr. Don W. Holter, the pastor. The church was decorated with assorted white flowers, candelabra, palms and ferns. The ceremony was witnessed by 100 friends and relatives. The bride was given away by her father, Lloyd L. Spry. She wore a gray gabardine suit, with a corsage of orchids. The matron of honor was a sister of the bride, Mrs. Gehrman A. Radtke of Whitewater. The best man was R. H. Workman of St. Paul, father of the groom. Organ music was furnished by Mrs. A. J. Fellows. A reception was held at the Lowry Hotel, St. Paul. The young people are on a wedding trip which will take them to New Orleans. Their home after May 31 will be 2172 Goodrich Ave. St. Paul. The bride graduated from Granton High and later attended Business College. She is secretary of the Western Fruit Express Co. Present at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Spry of Granton and their daughter, Nancy Lou; Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Radtke of Whitewater; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wallek of Minneapolis, Aunt and uncle of he bride; Harry Bergren of Grantsburg, Wis., uncle of the groom.
