The Rural Electric Coordination Committee was represented by their attorney, Mr. Huskamp, but there were no farmers or representatives of any cooperatives groups from Clark County present to object to the building of this line by Northern States Power Company. Testimony and evidence were given by prospective customers in attendance to the effect that the Northern States Power Company was ready, willing and able to extend the lines, and they requested that the lines be extended immediately, some of the farmers having already disposed of their individual lighting plants. Officials of Northern States Power Company stated that construction would begin within a few days after Commission approval was received and that service would be available for farm use within a week or ten days there after. - Lighting Starts Fire at Thompson Oil Co. - Lighting ignited fumes from a vent pipe on one of the tanks at the Thompson Oil Co., station at about 10:30 Friday night.
