Miss Shirley M. Frane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Frane of Athens, Route 2, and Robert J. Bane, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard A. Bane of Colby, were united in marriage Saturday morning, June 30, in a 9:00 o’clock ceremony read in St. John’s Catholic church in Athens with Rev. J. J. Burgraff officiating. The bride was escorted to the altar by her father who presented her in marriage.

The bride was attired in a gown of nylon tulle and Chantilly lace which she had designed herself. The snug-fitted lace bodice had long tapering sleeves of lace and V-neckline. Three tiers, the first of lace, fashioned the skirt. Her cascade bouquet consisted of pink and white roses, centered with a white orchid. Tiny rosebuds were caught to the white streamers which tied her flowers.

Four attendants preceded the bride to the altar. Their all-white dresses were complemented with cascades of pink and white carnations. Miss Dianna Frane, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She was escorted by the best man, Roger Schmidt, of Milwaukee, a cousin of the bride. Others in the bridal party were Mr. and Mrs. William Serdar of Waukegan, Ill., the groom’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Eldorn Heise of Edgar and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Steinke of Milwaukee, friends of the couple. Patrick Youmans of Colby ushered.

Bolero jackets with rolled collars and tiny cap sleeves were worn over the strapless bodices of nylon and shirred nylon tulle. The skirts were of nylon tulle over taffeta.

The bride’s mother was attired in a navy blue dress with white accessories and Mrs. Bane wore a black and white print dress with white accessories. Both also wore a white orchid.

Breakfast was served the bridal party immediately following the church ceremony and nuptial mass, and, at 12:30 o’clock, the newlyweds with their guests had dinner in the church hall. Supper was served at 4:00 o’clock following an afternoon reception.

Silk shantung styled the navy blue sheath dress highlighted with a large white collar and navy and white accessories was worn by the bride when the newlyweds left on a wedding trip through western states and Canada.

The bride, a graduate of Athens High School, is working for the Pacific Telephone Co. in Pasadena, Calif. The groom, a graduate of Colby High School, is now attending Pasadena City College. He is employed at the Miller Instrument Co. They will make their home there.
