August 26, 1948 When Lorraine Helen Hagedorn became the bride of Henry Robert Shaw August 14, (1948), St. John’s Lutheran Church was decorated with gladiolas and snapdragons. Yellow, orchid and pale green satin ribbons decorated the pews. Approximately 100 guests watched the bride enter the church, gowned in white ninon with satin appliqués and Queen Anne collar. Her fingertip veil of illusion fell from a beaded tiara. Her bouquet was formed in a frilled heart shape, centered in an orchid. Her maid-of-honor, Rose Weiting, wore orchid organdy, and the two bridesmaids, Anola Tews and Shirley Shaw, wore dresses similarly styled, one in pale green and one in pale yellow. All three carried colonial bouquets. The home of the bride’s parents where the reception took place after the ceremony was decorated for the occasion with white wedding bells and streamers. A tiered wedding cake centered the table.
