Local and Personal

Geo. Fahrer North of Curtiss was a business caller Tuesday.

Mrs. Emmet Hawks and son drove into Curtiss Tuesday to do shopping and brought some very nice strawberries.

The Town of Hoard held its annual session of the board of review, Tuesday June 26th at the village hall in Curtiss.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Axel Rude was a Curtiss shopper Wednesday.

Why buy a parrot when talk is so cheap.

Otto Duno was in Curtiss shopping Wednesday.

T.H. Wofenden and wife who has been visiting at Alfred Erickson’s left Friday on a camping trip in the Northern part of the state.

Geo. Kerner drove up from Riplinger Wednesday evening.

Mr. Otto Bublitz sister and husband are here form Milwaukee visiting Mr. Bublitz this week.

Theo. Thompson and family returned from Cauison, Wis. Where they have been visiting friends and fishing for a week.

Ralph Green returned from his fishing and outing trip Friday morning.

Glenzer Laabs took a load of young ball players to Owen and the bunch trimmed Owen up just as handy as the big fellow trimmed the other fellows.

Another big load of cheese boxes from the Riplinger factory went through Curtiss to the North. Shows that the farmers are very busy these days.

You can’t be happy all the time but you can generally keep out of others’ way when you’re not.

Witness Drowning

Mrs. John V. Sturner and two sisters and daughter Gladys came home from their outing and fishing trip up at Tomahawk Wednesday evening. They reported some very nice catches.

While John V. and his family were there, Herman Peissig and Chas. Rahn drove up and John proceeded to send them home with some fish. John in a little while caught 42 nice ones and on another little trip Mr. Riplinger caught 18, so we think by their talk, they were well paid for their trip.

While there four men went out on a rough lake and their boat turned over. Three out of the four were saved from the watery grave by an Illinois man who is an excellent swimmer preformed the fete of saving the three that were saved, the other one could not be rescued and he leaves a wife and family to mourn his loss.

Mr. Motorist: What the devil difference would it make? Five minutes from now we won’t be any where near here.
