----Cade, George (29 July 1885 – 14 Nov. 1956)

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 17, at the Wahl-Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon for George Cade, Juneau county clerk of court, who passed away suddenly at his home on November 14 after suffering a heart attack. Rev. George Marshall and Rev. Hubert Groves officiated and burial was made in the New Lisbon cemetery.

A son of Henry and Almira Cade, he was born in Colby, Wisconsin, on July 29, 1885, where he attended school and spent his early life.

He held a number of different jobs in various parts of the state until he began work for the CMStP & P railroad in 1917. He worked continuously for the railroad until his retirement in 1947 with 30 years of service.

Following his retirement he served the city of New Lisbon as justice of the peace for seven years. He was appointed last year as clerk of court to fill a vacancy and he had just been elected for a two year term to that office.

He was active in Masonic affairs, was a member of Juneau Lodge No. 103 F. & A.M., was a past master of the lodge, was a member of the Elroy Chapter No. 71, R.A.M., and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

His first wife, a son and a daughter preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Elsie, a sister, Mrs. Viratine Weber of Viroqua, a brother, James Cade of New Lisbon, four nieces and a nephew.
