W. Aaseth's barn is 110 feet long. I thought it a long barn but Fred's is 10 feet longer. - - - - - 60 Years Ago 25 Sept. 1942 Our old friend, G. E. Peterson, was in town Monday and visited the Northwestern Oil Company filling station, where John Steivang decorated him. He pinned all the choicest flowers from his garden on Mr. Peterson and made him look like a June bride, and he attracted much attention up and down the street. - - - - - - - 50 Years Ago 25 Sept. 1952 Testimony by the Soo Line Railroad, before a Public Service Commission hearing in Chippewa Falls last Thursday, asserted that the railroad had sustained a loss of $154,871 on the operation of passenger trains one and two, on the run between Somerset and Stevens Point, in 1951. The railroad has proposed ending the two tarin runs due to losses, which has brought objection from the city of Stanley. - - - - - - 25 Years Ago 22 Sept. 1977 The city council accepted with regret, the resignations of City Attorney Dan Nafzger and Fourth Ward Alderman Don Marquardt.
