Obit: Kuenzi, Emil Eugene (1864 – 1937)
Surnames: Kuenzi, Nehls, Brandt, Rusch, Hutschke, Wussaw ----Source: Abbotsford Tribune (Abbotsford, Clark County, Wis.) 02/25/1937 ----Kuenzi, Emil Eugene (28 Jan. 1864 – 20 Feb. 1937) Last rites for Mr. Emil Kuenzi, who died suddenly, Saturday, were conducted by the Rev. J. Brandt, Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock at the home of his son, Walter Kuenzi. The deceased was taken to Juneau where services were held at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Mary Nehls and later at the church. Burial was made in Juneau. Emil Eugene Kuenzi was born in Lebanon, Dodge Co., Wisconsin, Jan. 28, 1864. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Watertown, and thus the triune God, whom he served faithfully throughout his life, became his God and Saviour. At Lebanon, he was married to Miss Alvina Rusch. The union was blessed with one child. After only a little more than one year of married life his wife passed away, leaving him with the small child, Luella. On January 29, 1891 he was married to Miss Coradina Hutschke. Two children were born to this union, Walter and Mary. During most of his life he resided at Lebanon and Oconomowoc. During the last years he made his home in Abbotsford with his son Walter. He is survived by his widow, his faithful companion and helpmate for 46 years; and the three children, Mrs. Luella Wussaw of Vesper, son Walter, Abbotsford; and Mrs. Mary Nehls of Juneau; eleven grandchildren, four brothers, two sisters and a host of friends. The news of his death came as a surprise and shock to everyone. He had been in good health until Saturday, Feb. 29th, when he was suddenly overtaken by a heart attack which brought about his death in a very short time. The years of his earthly pilgrimage were 73 years and 22 days. He loved his church, attended services regularly, and gave liberally for the support of the church. Asleep in Jesus! Blessed sleep. From which none ever wakes to weep; A calm and undisturbed repose, Unbroken by the last of foes. Asleep in Jesus! Oh, for me May such a blissful refuse be; Securely shall my ashes lie, And wait the summons from on high.
