Surnames: Marcus, Matzner, Loos, Dorazio, Walsh, Miller, Salum, White, Bootzin, Koontz, Linderbaum ----Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 09/15/1960 ----Marcus, Irvin (31 May 1906 – 8 Sept. 1960) Irvin Marcus, president of the Colby Milling, Inc., died last Thursday of a heart attack at his home in Colby at the age of 54 years. Masonic rites were conducted at the Lulloff Funeral Home Monday morning at 10:30 and were followed at 2:00 P.M. by services in Mount Sinai Temple at Wausau. S. L. Loos officiated at the Masonic rites and Rabbi David J. Matzner officiated at the services at the temple. Pall bearers were Guy Dorazio and S. L. Loos of Colby and Shelly Walsh, Ken Miller, Irv Salum and Robert White of Minneapolis, Minn. Burial was made in the Hebrew cemetery at Wausau. Mr. Marcus was born in Medford on May 31, 1906, where he received his education. He engaged in the grocery and feed manufacturing business during most of his business career and began operating Colby Milling, Inc., in 1949. An explosion on December 29 destroyed the plant in Colby, and since then, the firm carried on its business in a mill at Abbotsford purchased from Mr. Bootzin. Several months ago, Mr. Marcus had announced that he planned to build a new plant in Colby. Mr. Marcus was a member of Mt. Sinai Temple in Wausau, the Colby Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge of Marshfield. He is survived by his wife, a step daughter, Mrs. Robert Koontz of Thorp; two sisters, Mrs. Vernice Bootzin of Milwaukee and Mrs. Marcella Linderbaum of Tucson, Ariz. A sister preceded him in death. Mr. Marcus was well-known for his kindly and friendly disposition and business ability and as a man who always endeavored to perform his duties to his God, his country, his family, his neighbor and himself, honestly and well.
