Class is Confirmed at St. Bernard’s

A class of 22 was confirmed by the Most Reverend William Griffin, D.D., auxiliary bishop of La Crosse, at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Wednesday evening.

The bishop was escorted at 7:30 to the church by members of the class, the Holy Name men, altar boys and visiting clergy. After a brief examination of and address to the class, during a most impressive ceremony, the bishop confirmed each member.

The class included the Misses Patsy Beil, Loretta Ellerman, Marie Fecker, Eileen Kelber, Harold Hopfensperger, Carl Johnson, John Kadonsky, Anthony Kittl, Norman Lucas, Laverne Michlig, George and Jimmy Nikolay, Harvey Olson, Ronald Reeves, Richard Steffen, Mrs. Felix Dietsche, Mrs. Henry Dallmann, Mrs. Malcolm Lamont, Mrs. Carl Morrow, Mrs. G. G. Shields and Mrs. Francis Wiese.

Assisting the bishop were the Rev. Leo Lang of Colby and the Rev. Phillip Wollet of Dorchester.

Other clergy present for the ceremony were the Rev. Frank Brickl, Wurzburg, Rev. J. J. Novak, Greenwood; Rev. William Mooney and Rev. J. O’Shaughnessy, Wausau; Rev. Edward Rekos, Knowlton; Rev. Fran? Wallace, Stanley; Rev. S. Andrze?, Rev. Mark O. ? and Rev. Anscar, O.M., Cap., Marathon, Rev. Mucherheide, Rev. T. ? and Rev. Patomnig, Thorp; Rev. J. J. Sheridan, Fairview; Rev. Anthony Fischer, Waumandee and the Rev. C. D. Brady, pastor of St. Bernard’s congregation.

Special music was sung by the adult choir. The altars in the church were resplendent with gold lace, lighted candles and quantities of many colored gladioli.
