Hedler, Clara #2 (20 NOV 1892 – 23 FEB 1953)

Miss Clara Hedler passed away Monday night, Feb. 23, 1953 at her home after going into a coma earlier that day.

Clara Louise Hedler was born Nov. 20, 1892 in the city of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). She was the daughter of Frank Hedler and Ellen Crowley Hedler.

She was preceded in death by her father May 3, 1939; one brother Frank, Feb. 7, 1921.

Clara is survived by her mother, four sisters, Ollie at home, Mrs. Nick Gengler (Margaret), Medford, Mrs. Ed Schmidt (Harriet), Mrs. Frank Schmidt (Nellie), Thorp; 4 brothers, Fred, Tom, Leo, Thorp, and Leland of Milwaukee; thirty-seven nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Clara was loved by all. She was ever ready and always willing to give a helping hand to any in her family, as well as her friends.

After becoming ill, she was always cheerful and always had hopes of getting better. She passed away as peacefully as she had lived. She was one of few words but of many kind deeds.

Funeral services were held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Saturday morning, Feb. 28th, 1953, at 9:30 a.m. Interment in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were four brothers, Fred, Tom, Leo and Leland and two nephews, Arnold Gengler and Francis Hedler.

Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were Leland Hedler and son Kenneth, Alvira Schmidt of Milwaukee; Mrs. J. F. Murray, river Falls; Mrs. Ed Berendsen, Antigo; Miss Margaret Crowley, New Richmond; Mr. and Mrs. Al Tanberg, Miss Olan Hedler, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Crowley and daughter, Chippewa Falls; Miss Joyce Gengler, Menomonie; Miss Geraldyne Hedler, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gengler and son Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Wudi, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gengler, Mr. and Mrs. George Thums, Medford; Mrs. Donald Hedler of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred and son, Chicago, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Zell, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Peham, Harvey Zell, Marshfield.
