Ireland, Alexander (18 June 1862 - 10 May 1948)

Funeral services for Alexander Ireland, who died after a six months illness, at 6:40 Monday evening, at his home in Wausau, were held today. Following a service at 1:30 at the Lutheran church at Wausau, the body was taken to the Colby cemetery for internment. The Rev. E. H. Bertermann officiated at the rites.

Alexander Ireland was born in Scotland, June 18, 1862, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ireland. He came to America in 1879.

For the first year after his marriage to Miss Nettie King, of Stevens Point, they lived at Greenwood and then moved to Abbotsford where Mrs. Ireland died in 1924. Four children were born to them: Wesley and Mrs. Anna Dickenson, who preceded them in death; Charles, of Marshfield; and Mrs. William (Jessie) Copeland, of Dorchester, who survive their parents.

In 1925 he was married to Mathilda Hibbard and lived in Abbotsford until about 12 years ago when they moved to Wausau.

Mr. Ireland, who was a fireman and in later years continued to work for the railroad in other capacities, was a member f the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers for over 60 years.

He is survived by Mrs. Ireland, 19 grand children and four great grand children.

Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hoffman of Abbotsford, attended the funeral.
