Edward Peter Olichwier, age 95, of Stanley, WI was taken to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 11, 2009.
A Christian Burial Mass was held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, WI with Fr. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial followed in the St. Mary’s Czestochowa Cemetery, Junction. Friends and family called Monday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI with a 7:30 rosary being recited.
Edward was born June 2, 1914, in Thorp, WI, the son of John and Josephine (Mroz) Olichwier. He grew up in Thorp and later moved to the Junction area before residing in Stanley. On June 25, 1935, he married Bernice Slowiak at St. Mary’s Czestochowa in Junction. She passed away after 59 years of marriage on September 6, 1994. On August 22, 1998, Edward was united in marriage to Frances Andruskiewicz at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp, WI. Through the years Ed worked at Blue Moon Dairy in Thorp, Falls Dairy in Stanley, and later worked at Presto where he retired at age 62. Edward loved to go hunting and fishing with family and friends and always enjoyed spending time in his yard tending to his rose bushes and his garden. He also enjoyed going out to polka dances and different community events.
Edward is survived by his wife, Frances; three children: Alois “Olie” Olichwier of Bloomer, Delores Foster of Batavia, IL, and Dennis Olichwier of Holcombe; daughter-in-law, LaVerna of Stanley; step-daughter-in-law, Carol Andruskiewicz; step-son, Robert (Linda) Andrus of Weston; 15 grandchildren who loved him very much; four step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; plus many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Bernice Olichwier; two sons: Gerald Olichwier and Richard Olichwier; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Olichwier; step-son, Donald Andruskiewicz; sister, Mary Moczarny; one nephew and two nieces.
Edward will be greatly missed but never forgotten. |
