L. (50th Anniv. – 27 Sept. 1953) Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Adams
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at
their home Sunday. For the occasion, Mrs. Adams wore a royal blue dress and a
corsage of yellow roses and white baby mums. A large wedding cake decorated with
gold roses and topped with a golden wedding piece served as a centerpiece at the
family table. Yellow roses were used in the home decorations. Those of the family here
for the Sunday observance were Claude Adams of Wauwatosa, Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Peterson and daughter, Carla, of Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peterson, and
four children of Rockford, Minn., Miss Barbara Peterson of Minneapolis, Minn.,
Mr. and Mrs. Orson Adams of Hancock, Mr. and Mrs. Lyall Adams of Fond du Lac,
and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Plasch and six children, of Minneapolis. In the
afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Swan Peterson and son, Harley, of Owen, joined the
group. Mr. and Mrs. Adams were
married at Hancock Sept. 29, 1903, at the home of her parents. Mrs. Adams was
born Cora Hubbard, May 28, 1879, at Hancock. She was employed there as a
telephone operator for two years, prior to her marriage. Ardin L. Adams was born
in Poysippi Dec. 2, 1879. His parents moved to Hancock when he was a small boy. After their marriage,
they lived in various places, as Mr. Adams was a telegrapher for the railroad
company for 37 years. Their first home was at Deer River, Minn., then Nestoria,
Mich., and later Phillips, after which they moved to Abbotsford in 1918, and
have lived here since then. Since 1921, they have been living in their present
home on highway 13, where Mr. Adams also has his chiropractic office, a
profession he has followed since 1919. Mr. and Mrs. Adams have
two children. They are Claude, of Wauwatosa, and Mrs. Roy (Edna) Peterson of
Abbotsford. There are four grand children: Claude Adams, Jr., of Wauwatosa,
Arthur Peterson of Rockford, Minn., Miss Barbara Peterson, of Minneapolis, and
Miss Carla Peterson, of Abbotsford. There are also four great grand children. Mr. Adams has one
brother, Otis, of Woodruff, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Miller, of San Antonio, Tex.
Mrs. Adams has four sisters: Mrs. Charles Kent, Mrs. Bertha Coggins, Mrs. Lana
Abbot, and Mrs. Fred Meirhofer, all at Hancock. On Tuesday afternoon and
evening, friends and neighbors called to extend greetings. Included were Mr. and
Mrs. Swan Peterson and Harley, of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zirbarth, Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Spech, Mmes. George Greaser, Fred Woempner, Henry Wilhelmi, Ed
Hemberger, Viola Rusk, H. J. Amacher, R. J. Janda, Elmer Schraufnagel of
Abbotsford, and Mrs. Ed Pacholke of Eau Claire. Mr. and Mrs. Adams were the recipients of many lovely gifts and cards, in remembrance of their golden anniversary. |
