Krueger, William F. (1888? – 25 July 1954)

William F. Krueger, 66, of Wausau, was fatally injured in an car collision Sunday morning about 9:20, southeast of Merrill.

Mr. Krueger, who formerly operated the Standard Oil service station here, and Mrs. Krueger and their only son, Bill, resided in Abbotsford a number of years.

Mr. and Mrs. Krueger, accompanied by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Krueger, Jr., were enroute to their cottage on Pelican Lake. The accident happened when William Jr., who was driving north, and a car driven by Virgil Schneider, of Barrien Springs, Michigan, going east on a town road, collided near the Deer Run cheese factory. It is located on a cut-off used by many Wausau residents going from County Trunk W to highway 64 on their way to highway 17. Mr. Krueger was riding alone in the back seat. All four occupants were thrown from the car by the impact.

Injured in the crash were his wife, Christine, 63, fractured wrist and ribs; William, Jr., both collar bones and a hip fractured; and his wife, Lillian, 37, fractured ribs. They were taken to Holy Cross hospital, Merrill. Injuries to Mr. Schneider were not known.

The accident occurred when a car driven by William, Jr., going north on a town road, and a car driven by Schneider, going east on a town road, collided.

Funeral services for Mr. Krueger were held this morning at 9:30 at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and at 10:00 o’clock at St. Michael’s Catholic church, Wausau.

A number of relatives and friends from Abbotsford attended the funeral.
