Mrs. J. C. Bowers of Abbotsford, Wis., passed away at the Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minn., on Monday, June 27, 1921, following an operation for gall trouble.

Hulda Hoppen was born in Colby, Wis. on Aug. 1, 1888, and it was here that she received an education in our public schools and grew to young womanhood. In Nov. 1910 she was united in marriage to Earl Kyle, of the town of Frankfort, who was killed in a railroad accident March 21, 1915. On Nov. 21, 1917, she was married to John C. Bowers of Stevens Point. To this union were born two children, Dorothy, aged 3 years, and Mildred, 5 months.

Following her marriage to Mr. Bowers they made their home at Stevens Point until about a month ago, when they moved to Abbotsford.

For several months past she had been ailing and at last it was decided that she go to Rochester to undergo an operation. Contrary to expectations, the operation disclosed that her condition was very serious and little hope was given for her recovery.

Mrs. Bowers’ death has caused consternation among her relatives and wide circle of friends. She was an ideal wife and mother and her generous and cheery nature made her a favorite of all.

For years she was employed at the phone office here and her efficiency as operator in the Clark County Telephone Co. was greatly appreciated by the company and its patrons. Our whole community will deeply sympathize with her bereaved husband and little ones, her father and mother and the other sorrowing relatives.

The funeral is being held this afternoon from the M. E. Church, Rev. Black of Stevens Point, officiating, and the remains will be laid to rest in the Colby Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hoppen, of this city, two brothers, George Hoppen of Stevens Point, Will Hoppen of Chicago.

The relatives who are here for the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs. Will Hoppen and son Claude, Mr. and Mrs. George Hoppen, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walters, Two Rivers, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Bowers, Brownsville, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Poundstone and son and daughter, George and Marie, and Fred Bowers, Mellen, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tankin and Miss Louisa Smith, Medford, and the Misses Irene and Louise Bowers of Stevens Point.
