L. W. Joachim, who for the last six months has wielded the editorial pen on the Deutsch-Amerikaner, bade his many friends and acquaintances in this city adieu, and left for his home in Madison last Friday, where he has accepted a position on the Wisconsin Botschafter. On Monday of this week his place was supplied by Mr. Carl Rabenstein of Mankato, Minnesota, formerly local editor of the Minnesota Beolstchter. Mr. R. will, we doubt not, after he becomes better acquainted here, get out a paper that will compare favorably with any German paper in the Northwest editorially, and being a first-class printer, will greatly improve the paper typographically.

Two new post offices have recently been established in this county – Wells and Wilcox. The first located on the northern boundary of the town of Grant, christened after Alderman Wells of this city, John D. Lyons, P. M. The second, in the town of York, named after S. B. Wilcox, A. Benedict, P. M. The mail route has not yet been established, but soon will be. Mail will go from Neillsville to Spencer via Loyal. The establishment of these offices will be a great convenience, especially to the people of the town of York, who have heretofore had to come to Neillsville for their mail.

A few of our enterprising citizens have attended to their sidewalks, so that they are now a comfort to those who have occasion to foot it up and down our streets. If others will continue the good work outside-walks will soon be clear of ice and slush. Let there by one general uprising on the part of our citizens, until our young city presents an appearance worthy of its good name. Let us not compel the ladies to wade any longer through the slush.

We think it would be safe to say Joe Hammel was the happiest man in our city last Sunday morning over the advent of a bouncing baby boy, who was installed a member of his family at 11:55 p. m., on Saturday last. The health of the boy was abundantly smoked, and Mr. and Mrs. H. have the hearty congratulations of many friends at home and abroad.
