The village of Medford was almost entirely destroyed by fire last week. The Spencer Tribune and Colby Phonograph with customary enterprise, issued extras giving accounts of the fire and a summary of the losses, which aggregate about $120,000.

Gilbert Johnson has bought a half interest in Furlong’s Store on the North side and has entered upon duty. Mr. F. D. Furlong started for Chicago last night to purchase a full stock of Dry Goods. Boots and Shoes and will soon have one of the best equipped stores in the city. Wait till his goods arrive.

CHRISTIE CACKLINGS: Mr. C. Foreman, is slowly regaining his health.

Mr. E. D. Pratt and ex-postmistress Gates, started for N. Y. last week. The former on a business trip, and the latter to visit the home of her youth.

Mr. Cassiday has completed, and moved into his house.

The highly delectable occupation of sheep-shearing has been indulged in by most of our farmers. Several sheep have been killed by dogs in this vicinity lately, but the dogs slumber beneath the sod.

L. V. Zander, the owner of the Robt. Ross farm, has started an orchard on the same, a much needed improvement.

Now is the time for the road overseers to put forth their mightiest effort to make the roads in a passable condition.

Jones Thompkins took us thorough his creamery, and explained the use of the complicated machinery pertaining thereto a few days since. For thrift and enterprise he is one of the leading men of this section.

Wm. Huntly, the popular assessor of Weston, has been making his annual calls.

Mr. Tuttle is going to erect another house on the site of the old one, as soon as possible. Boys, take hold and give him a lift when he gets his material on the ground. For “tho little be the offering boys, give it with a will”.
