--------- Daines, Cyrus (25 SEP 1909 - 23 OCT 1927)

Cyrus Daines, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Daines, died at Deaconess Hospital, Spokane, Wash., Oct 23, 1927, at 11:30 a.m. of epidemic meningitis. He was quarantined in his room at the time. Burial took place at Spokane as was advised by the director there, his uncle, S. D. Glenn of Horlawton, Mont., being in charge.

The deceased was born in Colby, Wis., on Sept. 25, 1909, thus reaching the age of eighteen years and twenty-eight days. He lived all his short life in Colby, Wis. except for the last three years, which were spent on the farm near Milan, Wis. On Sept. 14, 1927, he went west to Western South Dakota, where he worked a few weeks and then went to Worley, Idaho, where he was taken sick and on Oct. 19, moved to the Hospital at Spokane, Wash., where death claimed him on Oct. 23rd.

His departure is mourned by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Daines of Colby; one brother, Clifford of Colby; two sisters, Mildred Daines and Louise Erickson of Dorchester; his brother-in-law, John Erickson of Dorchester; and the following aunts and uncles: Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Glenn of Viroqua, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Glen of Horlawton, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Glenn of Horlawton, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Glenn of Helena, Mont.; Ira Daines of Wis. Rapids; C. A. Glenn of Viroqua; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Walkes of Ontario, Wis.; Arilla Sloan of Oshkosh, Wis. Also a very large number of cousins and friends in Colby and Milan, Wis.

Seldom has it been our duty to report so sudden a death, and when the word flew over our town, as on the wings of the wind, that Cyrus Daines was gone, it left a dark gloom wherever it was whispered. He was of a very affectionate disposition, bright and winning in his ways, and had many friends among the young people who are pained to hear of his sudden demise and extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
