LICENSE ISSUE GETS OUT NORMAL VOTE

Without doubt the question of granting license is responsible for the casting of a nearly normal vote In the city. There were no city officers to be elected this spring and the candidates for ward offices ba6d no opposition whatsoever. In fact some of the offices went begging for candidates to take out nomination papers. The men who will have charge of the west, ward affairs for the next year are Dr. H. H. Christofferson, Supervisor; Hugo, A. Krepsky, Alderman; Frank Firnstahl, Justice of the Peace; Wm, Will, Constable. In the east ward Jos. Weix for Supervisor and Geo. Roohr for Alderman elected without opposition. fiernaan Neumeister, Sr., was scratched in for Justice receiving 10 votes with one or two votes scattered among six or seven others. J. P. Harvey was elected Constable.

For State Superintendent and County Superintendent, Cary and Giessel each received 42 votes in the east ward. This ward gave Marshall 25 and Owen 17 for Supreme Court Justice. West ward gave Marshall 28 andOwen 78. County superintendent of schools, Elizabeth Kennedy 50, Arthur Dietz 46, and Robert Zetche 27.

On the question of issuing saloon licenses here the wets had the best of it, the vote being 108 to 51. Unity went wet 59 to 23. The drys got even by getting Abbotsford by 4 votes, and Greenwood, Loyal, Owen and Withee by pretty good majorities.
