(Marriage - 28 JUL 1928) A pretty wedding took place at the St. Mary's Parsonage last Saturday, July 28, 1928, when Miss Leona Marie Fecker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fecker, became the bride of Mr. Ervin H. Schmike, New London, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schmike, Rev. Lachnit reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Helen Fecker was bridesmaid and Miss Ruth Fuhrman maid of honor. The groom was attended by Ray Schmike and Harry Fecker. The bride wore a beautiful dress of white crepe back satin in bouffant style with tiered skirt of silk lace set with rhinestones, and also veil with wreath and carried a beautiful shower bouquet of roses, carnations and sweet peas. The bridesmaid wore a dress of pink taffeta in bouffant style, with silk net flounce and carried a corsage bouquet of snapdragons and sweet peas. The maid of honor wore a dress of orchid taffeta in bouffant style with silk lace flounce and carried a bouquet of snapdragons and sweet peas. Immediately after the marriage ceremony, the bridal party repaired to the home of the bride's parents, where a wedding reception was held. The home was nicely decorated in pink and white and with orchids for the occasion. In the evening, a free wedding dance was given at Wiedenhoeft's park, which was largely attended by friends and relatives. The newlyweds will be at home after Nov. 1st at New London, Wis., where the groom is employed by the Morris Martin Co. The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. H. Schmike, parents of the groom, and sons, Ray and Wyman, and daughter, Ethelyn, New London; Mr. and Mrs. F. Gritsmacher, Dale; Mr. and Mrs.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schmike, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Fecker, Mrs. Albert Gorges, Mrs. Herman Gorges, Mrs. August Schmike, Sr., Miss Bertha Hubon, Mr. Henry Gorges, Mr. Leon Catrill, all of New London; Mr. Augusts Schmike, Jr., Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. F. McDowell, Mr. and Mrs. Drephal and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Frinack, Menasha; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Leitke and family, Mrs. Louis Jerikowic and children; Mr. Henry Mutig, Mr. John Mutig, Kaukauna; Mrs. A. Kaufman, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Meindl, Mrs. L. Hundl and daughter, Katherine, and son, Lester, Mrs. Pauline Shad, Mr. Joe Valdovis, Manitowoc; Mr. and Mrs. Gust Martins and Miss Irene Fecker, Milwaukee. Although the groom is not very well known here, the bride has a wide circle of friends who extend best wishes for a happy married life. |
