--------- Goneau, William (16 APR 1892 - 18 AUG 1916)

William Goneau passed away at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls on Friday morning, Aug. 18, 1916, aged 24 years. The remains were taken to Eau Claire, Wis., where funeral services were held at the Christ Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Philip H. Linley officiating.

Mr. Goneau was born in Eau Claire on April 16, 1892, and came with his parents to Owen, Clark County when a small boy, his father being employed in the mill here. He received his education in the public schools of this city, graduating five years ago. After completing his schooling he went to work for the Soo Line as fireman on their freight engines, which position he held until his death.

William was an honest, industrious young man, and was favorably regarded among his railroad associates and neighbors in this city, where he spent the greater part of his life.

To mourn the untimely death of this young man there are left Mrs. Goneau Hayes, mother, of Owen, and four brothers, John of this city, Edgar of Star Buck, Wash., Charles of Cornwallis, Mont., Harry of Sauk Center, Minn. All attended the funeral with the exception of Charles, who could not get here in time.

The honorary pallbearers were Joseph Johnson, Walter Fox, Walter LaBerge, C. J. Operman, Owen; Floyd Johnson, Menomonie; and Erving Bolman, Eau Claire.

Others from away who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Wm. Frazer, Alberstville; Miss Alice Barrinton, Waupaca; Mrs. J. P. Weirich and daughter, Ina; Mrs. M. J. Charrette, Miss Mena Martinson, Miss Lottie Perkins, Miss Mary Fox, Joseph Probst, and Mrs. Harry Johnson, all of Owen; Claire Servaty, Rice Lake.

The numerous friends extend sincere sympathy to his mother and brothers in their bereavement.
