Muriel G. Hart, age 82, of Humbird died Sunday, July 13 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Muriel was born Nov. 2, 1920 in Montpelier, Idaho to to parents Hartwig and Minnie (Jorgenson) Nelson. As a child, she moved to the Fairchild area and graduated from Humbird High School in 1938. She married Harold V. Hart on Sept. 22, 1938 in Pigeon Falls.

They farmed in the Humbird area most of their lives. After selling the farm, they were employed at the Falls Motel in Black River Falls for nine years. They also sold Christmas trees in Texas for fifteen years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Humbird and also sang in the choir. Muriel enjoyed bowling, fishing, and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen (Lee) Segerstrom of Hertford, North Carolina; Katheryn Stolp of Fairbanks, Alaska; and Gail Janke of Humbird; two sons, Ken Hart of Alaska, and Richard Hart of West Bend; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two nephews, a niece, and several great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Verna Flood of Humbird; and a cousin Dorothy Olson of Janesville. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harold on Dec. 30, 1995.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 19 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Humbird, with Rev. Joel rueger officiating. Burial was in the Mentor Cemetery, rural Humbird.

The Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, assisted the family.
