--------- Larsen, Karl (1894? - 9 MAR 1921)

On Wednesday evening our people were much saddened when the news spread about that Karl Larsen had passed away at the home of his uncle, Mr. and Mrs. James P. Hansen. He had been ill with pneumonia for the past seven days and although he had been unconscious the last three days, and his condition critical, his friends here had hoped for his recovery.

Karl Larsen was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Christian Larsen, and was born in Denmark twenty-six years ago, and came to this country about six years ago, and since that time has made his home with his uncle, at which place he passed away. He is survived by his parents, two brothers and two sisters, all of Denmark, and two uncles, James P. and Hans C. Hansen, and one aunt, Mrs. Hans C. Madsen, of this city (Owen, Clark County, Wis.).

About a year ago he, with Walter Hansen, opened up the Services Garage in this city and since their opening have enjoyed a fine patronage and in their work he gained the acquaintance of a great many who will mourn his loss. He was a young man of fine character just getting a start in life, and had much to look forward to.

At the time of the war he served with the Americans overseas, and while there was in the truck service as a driver. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Danish Brotherhood Lodge of Withee, as well as a member of the Danish Young Peoples' Society.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Danish Lutheran Church at Withee, the pastor, Rev. J. L. Dixon, spearing in both Danish and English. The funeral will be conducted by the members of the Van Huizen Post of the American Legion, of which he was a member, and will be strictly military in form.
