10 Years Ago April 2, 1992 Jason Isenberger, Bob Mahr, and Laurie Westman have been selected as the 1992 Badger Boys and Badger Girl State representatives from Stanley-Boyd High School. Louis Alix and Becky Sigrist were chosen as alternates.

25 Years Ago March 31, 1977 Badger Boys and Badger Girls State representatives from Stanley-Boyd high school this year are Denise Mortensen, Robert Schneider and Gregory Mitchell. Alternates are Tammy McManus, David Bernklau and Michael Voytovich.

40 Years Ago, April 5, 1962 Portions of three city streets will get blacktop this year...First and Fourth Avenues, heavily traveled routes to the new senior high school, are scheduled for surfacing as is the remaining portion of Dahl Street. This week the Republican is celebrating 65 years of continuous service. Founded in 1896 by the late W. H. Bridgman, and was operated by the Bridgman family until 1960 when it was sold to the present publisher, R. C. Bloom.

50 Years Ago, April 3, 1952 In the only general city election contest, Fred C. Korn was re-elected to both justice of the peace and police justice offices by decisive margins over William Kelley. Lloyd Berseth won the seat of school commissioner-at-large in a close contest with Peter Seidl. It was voted at the special school board meeting at the Peterson School to close the school and send the pupils to the Lincoln School in Stanley next school term.

60 Years Ago, April 3, 1942 Street Commissioner Henry Higholt made a test of the capacity of the new well, recently struck by the city, as an acquisition to its water supply. Mr. Higbolt finds that the new well has a flowage of 500 gallons per minute, and the water is of fine quality. He assures it will give the city an adequate supply.

70 Years Ago, April 1, 1932 Worden: Mrs E. Carmien had the misfortune to lose her home and all the contents by fire early last Saturday morning.

100 Years Ago, April 5, 1902 The town of Edson chose the following members for its town board: Chairman John T. Somers, S. Abrams and Peter Meyer. Thorp is experiencing a mild epidemic of smallpox, there being six families quarantined there at present.
