News: The Clark Republican and Press 8-1-1895
Source: The Clark Republican and Press Date: 8-1-1895 A. A. Graves of Loyal, visited this city Tuesday. Maud Southard went to Eau Claire yesterday for a short visit. Jeff Canon started for his home in Tenino, Washington, Tuesday. Mr. Shafer of St. Paul, cousin of Mrs. J. N. Kemery, is here for a short visit. Mrs. John Hein and daughter, Francis, drove to Hein mills, Tuesday. Herman Franckenberg, of Greenwood, visited the county seat Tuesday. Nina Hommel went to Tomah Sunday on the special train from Marshfield. Harry and Archie Carter of Humbird, were visiting J. W. Page and family last week. H. B. Cook and J. D. Clark with their wives and families of Loyal, visited at the country seat Saturday. Dude Hommel went to Camp Douglas Tuesday and from there will visit friends in Tomah. Blanch Ring returned home Tuesday from her visit to Sparta, accompanied by Minnie Thayer of that place. Frederick Grambort, a resident of the town of Colby, and one of the first settlers of Clark county, died on July 23, at the age of 60 years. He was a well known and very prominent resident of that town. Mrs. S. A. Wilcox has purchased an improved Minnesota Chief thresher and will do threshing for farmers promptly. A. E. Garvin will be the manager. Jack Youngs traded his pony for a bicycle last week. Mrs. S. A. Lindsay went to Plover Thursday for a few day’s visit. Chauncy Fowler and Forest King went to Christie Saturday. George Nichols and Guy Winn had a collision while passing each other last Saturday evening. Guy came out best as he had a lumber wagon. George’s buggy was badly smashed. Wm. Row. Tom Garvin and John Vanderburg went to Granton Monday. SHORTVILLE: Myrtle and Harry Robinson called at Pleasant Ridge Friday evening. Sarah Short closed her school in Sherwood Forest the first of the week. Myrtle Robinson visited relative at Carlisle last week. DAY: Last week Robert French received from parties in Freeport, Ill., by express a Jersey pig which he will keep on his farm.
