Obit: Griepentrog, Eugene (1928 - 2003)
Wednesday, August 20, 2003 edition of the Tribune - Record - Gleaner Eugene Griepentrog Eugene Griepentrog, 75, Spencer, died on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at his home. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The Rev. Karl Rose officiated. Burial was in the West Spencer Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. Eugene Griepentrog was born on Feb. 13, 1928, in Spencer, to Fred and Adelheid (nee Wellman) Griepentrog. He attended the Brighton School. He worked for Maurice Anderson Sawmill from 1944-49, and then at Dairy Belt (now Land O'Lakes) from 1949 until retiring in 1993. He married Bernice Ertl on Sept. 11, 1948, in Spencer. He was a member of the Spencer Fire Department, a trustee of Teamsters Union Local 446, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include three sons, Alan (Mary) Griepentrog, Abbotsford, Roger (Mary Ann) Griepentrog, Spencer, and Ronald (Debra) Griepentrog, Spencer; three daughters, Barbara (Jim) Paschke, Spencer, Diane Chapman, Wausau, and Connie (Tom) Fehrenbach, Hewitt; one son-in-law, Ken Wilhelmi, Abbotsford; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Betty) Griepentrog, Spencer,; and one half-brother, Raymond 'Stub' Griepentrog, Spencer. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Bernice, on Sept. 29, 1997; one daughter, Dorothy Wilhelmi; two grandsons, Cory Griepentrog and Ron Diedrich; one brother, Bernard Griepentrog; one half-brother, Elmer Griepentrog; and one sister, Caroline Greenwald. Community Funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements. |
