Surnames: MENTGES CLIFTON BUCHANAN ---------Source: OWEN ENTERPRISE (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) 08/25/1927 --------- Clifton, Doris (Marriage - 25 AUG 1927) A quiet wedding was solemnized this morning at 11 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Mentges at Withee, when Miss Doris Clifton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Clifton of the town of Hixton, Clark County, Wis., and Mr. Glenn Buchanan of Curtiss, Clark County, were joined in wedlock. Rev. W. F. Grandy, former pastor of the Methodist Church of Withee, officiated. Following the ceremony the bridal party enjoyed a wedding dinner served at the Mentges home, and left on the afternoon train for a short wedding trip to Milwaukee and Chicago. The house and table decorations were beautiful, being trimmed with the season's flowers. Miss Clifton for the past four years ahs been a teacher in the rural schools, her last year being engaged in the Frenchtown district. Mr. Buchanan is the son of a well known farmer living a short distance from Curtiss. The young people, on their return, will be at home to their friends at Curtiss, where the groom has a well developed farm. Their many friends at Withee and Curtiss join in wishing them a happy wedded life. |
