Despondent over financial worries, Jonas Eloranta, 40, residing three miles south and east of Owen, Clark County, Wis., died Wednesday morning as a result of poisoning.

Mr. Eloranta, sometime during the night, procured a quantity of Paris Green, and at three o'clock in the morning his family was awakened by his groans, and serious illness, and from then on he suffered untold pain until he passed away at six o'clock. Medical aid was summoned at five o'clock, but before a physician arrived he had passed away.

District Attorney, V. W. Nehs, at Neillsville, was notified of his death and he instructed a physician to attend the case and determine the cause of death. Dr. K. W. Baker, after an examination, decided that death was due to poisoning, that a large quantity of Paris Green had been taken. No inquest was held as officers thought that it was unnecessary.

Mr. Eloranta was quite heavily in debt, there being a large mortgage on his farm, and he was having a hard time to meet his obligations as they came due, and it is believed that worry over his financial condition was the cause of him taking his life.

Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn, one son and two daughters, the eldest being 13 years of age. Funeral arrangements as now made will be for the procession to form at the Griebenow-Weirich Co. undertaking parlors at two o'clock Friday afternoon and then proceed to Riverside Cemetery, where short services will be conducted at the grave, the Rev. W. P. Powell, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating.
