Mrs. Irene Grote of Shelton, Conn. Entered into eternal rest on May 18, 2002 after a brief illness. She was born in Racine, daughter of John and Mary Wisocky, and moved with her family to Stanley. She attended and graduated from Stanley Schools. She also received her teaching degree.

On May 5, 1944, she was united in marriage to U.S. Navy Lieutenant Lewis George Grote. After her marriage she resided in Denver, Col. During World War II she worked for the federal government as an aerial photographer at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Col.

She is survived by her son, L. George Grote, Jr. (Susan); four grandchildren, Julie, Jennie, John and Lewis; one brother William of Stanley; and her sisters, Marita Smith of Eau Claire and May Meyer.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a brother, Albert; and her sisters, Ethel and Cornelia Ludwig. Funeral services were held in Shelton, Conn. Burial was in Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Colorado.
