Bio: Glen Hoffman, disappeared 1911
From the Loyal Tribune [Loyal, Clark Co WI], 16 Feb 1911 Page 8 Column 2, Greenwood news column Mr. and Mrs. John Hoffman received the sad news last week Monday, of the disappearance of their adopted son, Glen. Last summer he went to Reeder, North Dakota, where he made his home with his sister, Mrs. Mike Neville, and worked at different places in that vicinity. In the fall Mr. and Mrs. Neville moved to Alsask, Sask., Canada, and located on a claim about fifty miles west of Alsask. Glen following them there and remained with them, taking up a homestead near his relatives land. On Monday morning Dec. 26, writes his sister, Glen started up the river with another man, to help take some horses about 20 miles to a rancher who was going to keep them over winter. They reached their destination all right, but on their return they stayed with a rancher all night and left the next morning about 10 o'clock for home. It was a bad day and we suppose they lost the trail and wandered about until darkness, when they laid down, fatigued, cold and hungry, to perish. We have heard nothing more of them since, Mike having notified the rancher, and the mounted police at Alsask, and they were all going out to look for them. |
