From the Loyal Tribune [Loyal, Clark County, Wisconsin], February 9, 1911

The death angel has once more visited our community and taken from our midst another old settler, when on Thursday, February 2nd, the soul of John F. Brasier, freed from the frail and suffering body of clay entered into its well earned rest. Mr. Brasier was born in Canada June 1st, 1834. When a boy his parents moved to Hartford, Wisconsin, where they resided a few years. In 1860 he went to Sheboygan County where he settled on a farm. On December 25th, 1862, he was married to Miss Mary A. Shaver. To this union were born ten children, of whom seven are yet living: Jennie E. Philpott who resides near Loyal, Robert E. of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Harriet E. Fisher of Battle Creek, Michigan, Emily S. Huffman of Lincoln, Nebraska, Albon E. who resides in Loyal, Olive E. Irvine of Beaver and Ray E. of Minocqua. He moved with his family to Clark county in the fall of 1879 where he made his home until his death. Beside the children named above he leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Parker, of town of Beaver, many grandchildren and other relatives.

Mr. Braiser was a man of splendid Christian character, a kind husband, loving father and a good and helpful neighbor. Such a man, of broad charity, kind heart and gentle manner dying, is a distinct loss to any community. For years he had been a patient sufferer, confined to the house, and at last his sufferings were intense, yet he bore it all with Christian fortitude and submission.

The funeral was held in the Methodist church Sunday, February 5th, at one o'clock. Rev. E. R. Kildow preaching from the text so often upon the lips of the departed and so very appropriate, "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."

Life's race well run,

Life's work well done,

Life's battle well won,

He sleeps well.
