10 Years Ago, December 3, 1992 Several students from Mrs. Joyce McManus' advanced art classes recently completed a mural depicting the old Stanley High School, more recently known as Dodge School. The mural will be on display at the Historical Museum during the upcoming Christmas Open House. After that it will be part of the Stanley Christmas Village display in Soo Line Park. Students who worked on the mural are: Ryan Westaby, Shawn LaChappelle, James Price, Vince Sommer, Jennie Dorn, Jamie Cooley, Joleen Dahl, Kari Johnson and Kelly Isenberger.

25 Years Ago, December 1, 1977 The Farmers Store is holding an inventory close-out, all department store merchandise is 20 percent off and all food department merchandise is 30 percent off.

Returning letter winners on the S-BHS boys basketball team are Bill Booth, Jeff Erickson, Larry Taylor, and Tim Troyer. Returning letter winners on S-BHS wrestling squad are Tom Wozniak, Tom Shock, Randy Walker, John Duce, Bob Bohl, Bob Schneider, Dennis Ponick, Joe Bernklau, Dean Tinjum and Mike Wozniak.

40 Years Ago, December 6, 1962 Measles is taking its toll in the attendance records of school children here this week. In one room of Lincoln School, only 8 of 22 students were present on Monday of this week, both measles and influenza have been responsible. The Rev. Carl Peters of Beaver Dam was installed as pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church here on Sunday morning. Rev. Peters replaces Rev. F. M. Salveson who served the church for the past nine years and was forced to resign in July because of ill health.

50 Years Ago, December 4, 1952 Miss Sonja Broberg reached the finals in the "Speak for Democracy" speaking contest sponsored in the area by the Eau Claire Junior Chamber of Commerce. Miss Broberg's speech received a fourth rating in the finals in the decision of the judges.

60 Years Ago, December 4, 1942 Stanley motorists thronged the gas stations on Monday to have their gas tanks filled before rationing became effective on Tuesday. Every motorist insisted on having their tank filled, no matter how much it contained. The ration for ordinary private automobiles is now four gallons per week.

70 Years Ago, December 2, 1932 Eleven hunters were killed by gunfire and three died from heart attacks in Wisconsin, up to Tuesday.

100 Years Ago, December 6, 1902 A bakery and variety store has opened in the Donahue building.

The Chippewa Herald unfolds a scheme to shorten the legislative session this winter. As usual, it is about fifty years behind the times. The plan has been proposed at the beginning of each session since the state was admitted to the Union. The session will last until the spring plowing begins or until the hotel and boarding house keepers have to change the sheets on their beds. Then the legislature has to adjourn.
